Breeders’ Cup Betting Update: Smooth Roller Out Bodes Well for American Pharoah and US Racing Fans

an international online horse racing service, today released the updated
odds for the Breeders’ Cup Classic to be held today at Keeneland Race.

Smooth Roller’s late scratch from the Breeders’ Cup Classic along with
yesterday’s defection of Beholder has drastically changed the complexity
of the race—and wholly in American Pharoah’s favor.

According to Derek Simon, US Racing’s editor and handicapper, “the pace
of the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic is projected to be six lengths
than normal, meaning that a 48-second opening half-mile is a
distinct possibility. Obviously, this is a fortuitous situation for
American Pharoah, who — at least on paper — is the only confirmed
frontrunner in the field as proven by this year’s Belmont Stakes.”

James Maxwell of US Racing confirmed that the scratch of Beholder has
left many bettors slack jawed. “There was phenomenal interest in
Beholder for fixed odds future wagering over the past 2 months. And now,
with Smooth Roller out of the game, punters are forced to reevaluate
before betting
on the breeders cup
, “ he said.

Record attendance at Keeneland is expected due to American Pharoah’s
final professional race.
