NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cheese Grille, New York’s most popular grilled cheese destination, will
celebrate on April 12, 2017, the National Grilled Cheese Day, by
offering free grilled cheese from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The fast-casual restaurant made a similar offer last year and, according
to counter-server Chris Mafla, they gave out well over 3,000 grilled
cheese. “The next day we had over a thousand new followers on
Instagram,” Mafla said.
Last year the cheese-centric restaurant invited comedians and bands to
entertain the crowd (which lined-up around the block), and they will
provide similar entertainment this year.
Just three years old and operating just south of Houston on Allen Street
(“the fun part of the Lower East Side”), Cheese Grille won last summer’s
Time Out NY’s “Grilled Cheese Challenge” and was recently featured on
the Food Network.
With a menu
designed by author, chef, and cheese monger Tia
Art of Cheese Plate, Cheese Grille has a dozen signature grilled
cheese to choose from as well as delicious munchies such as fried
mac&cheese bites and sweet potato tots. The bread is delivered daily
from renowned French bakery Balthazar and its cheeses come from some of
the best creameries, both domestic and foreign.
Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free options are available and all of the grilled
cheese and sides are served neatly on a wooden cutting board. Patrons
enjoy over 20 beer and wine options for tasty pairings.
Cheese Grille is particularly popular as a nighttime destination and is
open Fridays and Saturdays until 3 a.m. All menu items are available for
takeout and delivery. It has a
4.3 rating on Yelp and over 11,000 followers on Instagram.
