Jay G. Spenchian Joins U.S. Cellular Leadership Team as Senior Vice President of Marketing

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–United States Cellular Corporation (NYSE: USM) announced that Jay G.
Spenchian has joined the company as senior vice president of marketing,
effective today. Spenchian will lead the marketing organization and is
responsible for the development of strategic branding and communications
initiatives that drive customer growth and loyalty, while optimizing our
products, services and offerings to provide the world’s best customer
experience.

Spenchian comes to U.S. Cellular from Tempur Sealy International, where
he served as executive vice president and global chief marketing
officer. His extensive marketing leadership experience includes prior
positions at Olive Garden, Red Lobster, General Motors, The Pillsbury
Company, Sara Lee Corporation, H.J. Heinz Company and Pepsico.

Spenchian holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a
master’s degree in marketing management from Michigan State University
in East Lansing, Mich. He has three adult children, and he is relocating
from Lexington, Ky., to the Chicagoland area with his wife, Nancy.
